Mississippi County, Arkansas, has reportedly received $2 million in federal funding to begin a clean-up effort at the former Eaker Air Force Base in Blytheville. According to a release sent Thursday, Congress approved the funding in March as a part of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

This November, voters in Nevada County will get to choose whether or not they’d like to see the Nevada County Sheriff removed as Tax Collector and the office combined with the Nevada County Treasurer’s Office.

Faulkner County officials announced that construction on a long-awaited new animal shelter is now underway at 597 US-65 in Greenbrier. The project was made possible with support from the county's volunteer tax dollars and is projected to open in approximately 180 days.

The Arkansas Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s dismissal of a lawsuit that argued voting machines do not comply with state law. Arkansas Voter Integrity Initiative Inc. and its CEO Conrad Reynolds filed the lawsuit against Secretary of State John Thurston, the State Board of Election Commissioners and Election Systems and Software LLC in December 2022. A Pulaski County circuit judge dismissed AVII and Reynolds’ amended complaint for declaratory and injunctive relief last year.
